  1. Rillifane Said,

The Latin quarter is generally quite safe so there is no issue there.

Its also one of the most popular neighborhoods in a city that is the most popular tourist destination in the world. So you’re being quite optimistic on price when you think in terms of $30 rooms in this area. After all, you can’t find a decent room in Boise Idaho for $30 a night.

However there are some choices at the top of your range if just barely.

The Hotel des Allies at 20 Rue Berthollet has some singles for 33 € ($46.34) although their publicly advertised rack rate is 47 €. Contact them and haggle http://www.alliesparishotel.com/

    The Hotel Esmeralda at 4 Rue St-Julien-le-Pauvre has singles for 35 € ($49.16) (Phone: +33 1 43 54 19 20‎ )

If you want lower prices then you should think in terms of areas a bit further from the center of the city such as the Auberge Internationale des Jeunes in the 11th arrondissement. http://www.aijparis.com/framea.htm they have rooms for as little as 14 € ($20).

EDIT: the only one that I know of in the Latin Quarter is the "Young & Happy Hostel" at 80 rue Mouffetard. It is a good location and the street is filled with inexpensive places to eat. http://www.youngandhappy.fr/hotel-e.htm I haven’t stayed there myself and don’t know anyone who has. However, the price is right and you can get a bed in a 6 bed dorm room for 24 €.

  2. massimo Said,

No Mama,Save the Drama & stay home until
you’re able to save enough money to get you into a decent & safe hotel. because decent , cheap and a single woman Don’t go together !
In the Latin quarter ? I don’t think it is wise
for any woman to be alone in a cheap place any where on earth.foreign women are a moving target even in your own country of birth & let alone in a foreign lands ! the Latin quarter is an
International neighborhood but it happened to be in Paris .hotels near tourists attraction are always very expensive. my advice is to go to your public library & take out a book about Paris
travel & search 4 hotels & everything else.
    Good luck.

  4. Ohi A Said,

Don’t stay in a hostel… they are nasty there. For $50, you can probably find a decent hotel just outside the city. I would recommend checking out the website BookMe dot com. You can compare ALL the reputable travel sites, and save money. Good luck!
